Hezekiah was an amazing king used by God in some great ways! He went against the flow of the current culture to create an atmosphere that allowed God to bless His people with miraculous deliverance from Assyria. However, later in his reign he became sick unto death. Isaiah prophesied that he would die. Hezekiah prayed for physical life and God granted his request with 15 more years on earth! Amazing story with a very sad ending. I believe Hezekiah displayed much selfishness in the last 15 years of his life portrayed by his “good for me” attitude (II Kings 20:19). During the last 15 years, he fathers a child who becomes the worst king yet! Christian Maturity is Selfless. Hezekiah proved Selfish. May we ask God to help us truly be selfless as Christ Himself was (Mark 10:45; Philippians 2:4)!
Interesting thoughts about Hezdkiah. Guess some things I won’t understand this side of Heaven. If I recall correctly Manasseh had Isaiah put to death.
God always gets the last word though. He gets saved in the end and works at undoing much of the damage he foolishly did as an evil king.
Great testimony of your circle of life with the one particular young man, 30, 000 foot view of multi-generation Church commission, and importantance of Christian Camps. I could easily believe it was an answer to Billy Gram’s prayer.
